Currently there is a multitude of programmes attempting to provide an insight into the main aspects of organising contemporary exhibitions. At the »curating photography« event, which will take place at Situation Kunst in Bochum-Weitmar, one of the locations housing the art collection of the Ruhr University, there will be the chance to discuss international European curatorial programmes. We will present classic institutions like De Appel, Amsterdam, and Goldsmiths College, London, but also the scholarship »museum curators for photography«, funded by the Krupp foundation, or the only recently established postgraduate programme »art criticism & curatorial knowledge« at the department of art history at the Ruhr University in Bochum. On the basis of the different models curatorial practice and its reflection will be discussed and the connection between theoretical studies and the practical work in museums will be made clear.
