The Europäisches Hochschultreffen (European University Meeting) is a cooperation between the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Dortmund, the Folkwang University, Essen, the Rietveld-Akademie, Amsterdam, and the School of Art, Media & Design, University of Wales, Newport.
It combines workshop and exhibition with the aim of exploring different aspects of exhibiting. Exhibition space is thematised as a location which demands its own sphere of influence. Here exhibitions are treated as a unique form of expression and both experimental and classical forms and their questions are expounded. The emphasis is less on the traditional or museal ways of presentation than on every kind of presentation. The discussions will hopefully generate a spectrum of possible ways as their outcome.
The exhibition »next to nothing: the possibilities of photography« presents the results of the meeting and visitors are invited to join the discussions, and to meet the critics, curators, lecturers and those studying.
